Orlando Vacation, Part 1

For our annual vacation, Phil and I went to Orlando May 11 through the 15. I have wanted to go here with my husband pretty much since we got married, but it is a pretty pricey trip. Thanks to an awesome tax return check and an amazing deal on Priceline (seriously, try to book your vacations during spring break, prices are always slashed), this year was the year! I'm proud to say that the price we got for two roundtrip tickets, a hotel room for 4 nights (that included continental breakfast and shuttle rides to the parks), a day pass to SeaWorld Orlando and a 3-day base pass to Universal Studios/Islands of Adventure came to $950. Do your research and you will find this was an amazing price.

We were kind of nervous about the hotel (EconoLodge Inn and Suites Maingate Central) because half of the reviews said that there either was an infestation of cockroaches in the rooms or the rooms were trashed and dirty. Thankfully, we didn't have either of these issues. Our room was nice and, other than a couple of the lights not working, we didn't run into any problems.

Our first day (May 12, Mothers Day) we went to SeaWorld. The weather forecast said it was going to rain all day, but the weather was perfect (every day was perfect): sunny with a light breeze and fluffy white clouds in the sky).

Along with looking at all of the exhibits available, we went to 2 shows (one with dolphins and parrots and the other with killer whales) and went on 2 rides (Atlantis, which is like a log chute water ride, and Wild Arctic, a helicopter simulation ride where you travel the Arctic). We also went to this 3D turtle trek show, where you live the life of a sea turtle (it was actually really cute). Here are some pictures from our day there. I will post more on Facebook at a later time! Enjoy!
